Cascade

Final Update

First off, thank you.

You are receiving this email because you supported our vision; a climbing gym that serves the greater south side. Many of you even put your trust and faith in us by purchasing a pre-sale membership. We utilized both the email signups and membership purchases during our pitches to local investors. Because of YOU, those pitches were successful and we were able to raise a significant amount of the capital required for this project.

As any climbing gym founder will tell you, the next major hurdle is finding a location. We toured 10 potential buildings in the last year, and none of them were quite right. However, just a few months ago a spot came up right in the middle of downtown Renton, near the old transit center. This lot was owned by the city, so it required an official bidding process. We worked 14 hour days, 20 days straight, and spent $12,000 to put together the perfect bid for the city.

The result…

We didn’t win.

“So will you keep looking for a location?”

In a normal scenario yes. However, in this case we have strong insider information that the group that did win the bid, is another climbing gym company. So the good news is that RENTON IS GETTING A CLIMBING GYM! The bad news is that it isn’t us, and it likely means we will have to set this dream aside for the foreseeable future.

Nothing has been finalized yet. There’s still a long negotiation process and site reviews. However, we expect all of this to go relatively smoothly.

“So what happens next?”

First is that anyone who paid for a pre-sale membership will receive a 100% refund. If you did purchase a presale pass, and don’t see a refund in the next 5 days (7/14/26), please reach out to us (info@cascadeclimbing.com). Second is we will begin to wind down operations, including closing our socials. We will keep everything live till the end of July, just to give everyone enough time to make sure all refunds have been received properly. Lastly, we will be deleting all email records and data by the end of July.

Final thoughts from the founder, Noah Kreyenhagen:

I feel so incredibly honored that so many of you put your trust in me. This has been the most difficult project of my life, and even though I failed to open the gym, I learned so much and got to meet so many incredible people that I otherwise wouldn’t have. At the end of the day our ultimate mission is still being fulfilled: Renton is getting a climbing gym. In this light the project was a success. I greatly appreciate each and every one of you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Sincerely,

Noah & The Cascade Team

TLDR:

We are ending our push to open a climbing gym, but Renton is still getting one.
